Data Marts
A data mart is a simple form of a data warehouse that is used to get data out to users. The purpose of a data mart is to provide easy access to frequently needed data that helps to facilitate decision making. Currently, Crafton Hills College (CHC) has access to two different data marts: EIS (Executive Information System), and the California Community College Chancellor's Office (CCCCO) Data Mart 2.0. Each of these data marts has strengths and weaknesses and the user will need to decide which is the most appropriate for the project that they are working on. Crafton Hills College Executive Information System (EIS)
EIS is only available to CHC employees on the District network. Logging in requires a network user name and password (i.e. user name and password used to login to your computer). Currently, EIS is primarily used to provide section detail information by term and course: number of sections, number of enrollments, FTES, etc.. The following documents will help with setting-up and using EIS.
California Community College Chancellor's Office (CCCCO) Data Mart 2.0
The CCCCO Data Mart 2.0 uses data submitted by the San Bernardino Community College District through data store in Datatel. In order for the data to be accepted by the CCCCO, it has to meet certain requirements and pass specified edits for accuracy. The information provided in the Data Mart is public, does not require a password, and allows comparisons to other California Community Colleges. Some examples of the type of information that Data Mart 2.0 provides include the ARCC 2.0 Student Success Scorecard Metrics, student headcount by enrollment status, day/evening status, and full-time/part-time status. In addition, basic skills improvement rates, success and retention rates, degrees and certificates earned, and transfer rates are also available.
