We welcome traditional and non-traditional submissions, such as but not limited to: zines, podcasts, videos, photo essays, digital art, research projects, essays, short stories, graphic memoirs, websites, newsletters, posters, etc.

Select one of the below options:

  1. You may submit an assignment from any Crafton Hills course (one composed for a class during AY 24-25) as long as it is based on Parable of the Sower. Entries may be revised before submission.
  2. Examine the acts of resilience and courage displayed by Lauren Olamina, her relatives, and her neighbors. Discuss how they coped with adversity and persevered in the face of dire circumstances. Reflect on the lessons of resilience that can be learned from their experiences. Explain your overall assessment of the tone of the book (despair, hope, optimistic, pessimistic, etc.).
  3. How can Parable’s message be applied to ongoing struggles for justice and equity in society? Discuss how understanding and learning from Butler’s dystopia can help prevent similar injustices from occurring in contemporary times.
