Membership Requirements
Qualifications to Join
In order to become a member of the College Honors Institute (CHI) you must meet the following requirements:
- New Students: Must show evidence of an unweighted cumulative 3.25 GPA or higher in all high school courses
- Current Students: Completion of 12 transferable units with a 3.25 cumulative GPA in all transferable work
Active Participation
To maintain your membership in CHI you must adhere to the following membership requirements:
- Completion of at least one honors course per year
- Update an education plan with honors program counselor each year
- Earn an A or B in all honors courses
- Maintain a cumulative 3.25 GPA
- Complete required Participation Points each semester. (See Coordinator for details.)
Requirements for Completion
To complete the CHI program you must meet the following requirements:
- Completion of 15 semester units in honors courses with a grade of A or B
- A cumulative college GPA of 3.25 or higher in all transferable course work
- Completion of 15 hours of approved community service
- Complete required Participation Points for each semester.
- Completion of associates degree requirements and/or fulfillment of admissions/transfer requirements for a four-year institution
