Participant Responsibilities
(CHC)2 participants will be expected to fulfill certain roles and responsibilities.
Protégé Responsibilities
- To set and pursue professional goals.
- To be willing to develop an ongoing professional relationship with your mentor.
- To attend scheduled program meetings, including training sessions, as well as those scheduled with your mentor.
- To commit to an agreed-upon number of meetings—a minimum of one per month as part of the program and one per month independently.
- To be open and willing to consider different approaches and opportunities for learning and professional growth.
- To provide honest feedback on the CHC2 program to help it mature into an integral part of the institutional culture.
Mentor Responsibilities
- To offer positive guidance and help to your protégé.
- To help your protégé define and reach goals.
- To be willing to develop an ongoing professional relationship with your protégé.
- To serve as an informational resource for your protégé regarding campus places, people, events, etc.
- To help your protégé learn about the college (history; CCC system; SBCCD structure; CHC and SBCCD culture; college policies and procedures).
- To attend scheduled program meetings, including training sessions, as well as those scheduled with your protégé.
- To commit to an agreed-upon number of meetings—a minimum of one per month as part of the program and one per month independently.
- To provide honest feedback on the CHC2 program to help it mature into an integral part of the institutional culture.
Supervisor Responsibilities
- To be willing to allow protégés and mentors the time necessary for the program to work.
- Management not only needs to allow this program to happen, but also to support it and participate in it as appropriate.
(CHC)2 Mentoring Program Steering Committee Responsibilities
- To create a fair and productive application process.
- To conduct one training session per month throughout the year.
- To facilitate the mentorship pairings and to suggest ways to work through any difficulties that may arise.
- To submit an annual report of the program, including a thorough evaluation and recommendations for future changes.
