Step 5: Identifying Gaps in Student Performance
This step is a continuation of the dialogue in Step 4. While SLO assessment will document student success as well as effective practice, the goal of this task is to improve student learning. One way this is determined is to identify learning gaps – the difference between what expected learning and students' actual performance on the assessment activity. Changes and adjustments to instruction, curriculum, and program structure becomes the focus of this part of the dialogue.
