Roadrunners enjoy a ‘spot of tea’ with Deans of Crafton Hills College
Roadrunners who made the Dean’s List were the special guests of honor at a tea with – you guessed it – the Deans of Crafton Hills College. Held Wednesday, April 24 in Crafton Hall, the afternoon event offered a catered lunch, a variety of activities such as raffles with Crafton swag, a group photo and a chance to interact with fellow Roadrunners and, of course, deans and other administrators while playing a bingo game.
The Dean’s List is open to students who have completed 12 or more units of college-level courses during a semester at Crafton with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Dan Word, dean of career education and human development, said making the list is a significant honor, and the tea was one way to sit down with students, acknowledge their efforts, and invite Roadrunners back to the little college on the hill anytime.
“Frequently, we have students who graduate from the program go out into the industry and come back for additional schooling [or] credentialing as they continue to grow in their career,” said Word, adding, “Once a Roadrunner, always a Roadrunner. We will always welcome [our] students back.”
Among those in attendance was Martin Zamudio, a 34-year-old graphics design major who plans to take Word up on his offer by staying active on campus coaching and promoting the College’s cross country team. He said that the afternoon tea was a nice event for Crafton to host, adding, “if they’re going to put on an event for us, I wanted to be here to support them.”
