In a groundbreaking move, Crafton Hills College has forged a partnership with local employers to address a pressing need in the community: emergency medical technicians (EMTs). With a vision to bridge the gap between education and employment, the college has collaborated with CONFIRE’s Priority Ambulance to launch a program that not only trains aspiring EMTs but also guarantees them employment.

May 6, 2024, marked the beginning of this innovative venture with the first cohort of 25 students beginning their journey. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, the students will learn how to perform basic life support in the pre-hospital setting and be prepared to sit for their National Registry examinations in this condensed 10-week hybrid program.

Organizers from the CONFIRE team explained that these students were selected based on an application and interview process that identified individuals who are community oriented and compassionate. But what set this program apart is the integration of real-world experience from the very beginning including giving back to their communities through service.

CONFIRE's involvement is pivotal, providing hands-on training and insights. Through ambulance ride-alongs and simulated emergency scenarios, students will gain firsthand experience under CONFIRE's mentorship.

The partnership between Crafton Hills College and CONFIRE not only provides a pathway to employment for these aspiring EMTs but has also strengthened the bond between education and community service. Together, they set a precedent for collaboration and innovation, ensuring that the future of emergency medical care in our community is in capable hands.
