The City of Redlands recently donated a firetruck to Crafton Hills College’s (CHC) Fire Academy, an asset that will support its firefighter training program. The Redlands City Council unanimously approved the donation and transfer of the fully equipped 2002 Seagrave firetruck to the college.

Interim CHC Fire Chief Ryan Harold noted that the addition of this fire engine will enhance the program through the simulation of emergency responses using current industry-recognized equipment. This truck will replace an old truck that will be retired.

Harold explained that equipment such as fire engines would be out of reach for the College’s fire science program without such donations from firefighting agencies in the area. A new fire engine costs nearly a million dollars.

“Our partnership with the City of Redlands is invaluable, and the donation of this truck is significant in helping us meet the demands of our local workforce with the well-trained candidates,” said CHC President Kevin Horan.

CHC’s Fire Academy faculty and students will celebrate the donation and transfer of the vehicle during a push-in event later this month. Faculty and students will push the vehicle into the engine bay at the College’s fire academy training center.
