Public Invited to View Aircraft Fire Exercises

The San Bernardino Regional Emergency Training Center (SBRETC), which trains firefighters for the unique challenges that come with being stationed on an airport and handling aircraft fires and emergencies, will be holding three evening training sessions in November and the public is invited to attend and watch as firefighters put out the live fire exercises.
The exercises will be held on Nov. 3, 10 and 12 at the training SBRETC training facility at 2235 E. Perimeter Road, San Bernardino, on the north side of the San Bernardino International Airport, just south of Third Street. To reach Perimeter Road From Third Street turn south onto Leland Norton Way, the airport entrance, and make an immediate left on Perimeter Road. The Emergency Training Center is a brick building on the right.
Public viewing will be held at a designated area at 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and spectators are invited to bring lawn chairs.
"It's really exciting to see a plane on fire at night," said June Yamamoto, Crafton Hills College dean, career education and human development.
