Sexual Assault Prevention is Message at Crafton Hills College

Yucaipa, CA –As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Crafton Hills College is offering awareness activities and featuring a presentation by a sexual assault survivor on Wednesday, April 20 at 3:30 p.m. in CCR-233.

After being assaulted as a student at UCLA and reporting her assault, Caylynn Simonson decided to speak up and give a voice to other victims of sexual assault who may be going through similar struggles. She became an advocate for sexual assault awareness in 2014 and since then, she has travelled across California on her collegiate speaking tour, speaking to universities and audiences about reducing risk of a sexual assault, and the importance of reporting. Since April 2014, she has spoken to over 2,500 college-aged men and women, at over 20 different Greek organizations and universities across California. Simonson is a certified speaker with the RAINN Speakers Bureau and an ambassador for Blingsting, the rhinestone pepper spray with a cause. Simonson currently lives in Orange County and is working as a pharmaceutical sales representative.

The Clothesline Project (CLP) will be on display on campus on April 13. The Clothesline Project is a vehicle for women affected by violence to express their emotions by decorating a shirt. They then hang the shirt on a clothesline to be viewed by others as testimony to the problem of violence against women.
