Student Trustee Spreads the Word

Beverly Rapouw understands the power of clear communication.
At the age of two, Rapouw left Redlands to live with her grandparents in Indonesia. She returned to the United States five years later, “not knowing how to speak English correctly,” she said. “It gave me the passion to one day be the voice of a group who needs assistance with voicing their opinions and concerns.”
Rapouw, a communications and anthropology major, says she hopes to one day start a career with a “strong presence in social media.” She stays up to date on the latest trends and has secured an internship focusing on social media.
To achieve her goals, Rapouw joined the Student Senate and took on the role of publicist — something her older brother did when he was part of Crafton’s Student Senate in 2009. Now, she’s a student trustee, and wants to forge stronger relationships between students and faculty members.
“I want to make sure they know I am here to help in any way, shape or form and to ensure student’s concerns and voices are being heard,” Rapouw said. “Doing things that help others in the way they need to be helped is just one thing I hope to accomplish this year.”
