Dr. Wei Zhou Appointed 8th President
Dr. Wei Zhou joins Crafton Hills College as its 8th president on July 1, 2016. He comes to the College with over ten years in higher education administration, including Interim President and Vice President of Instruction at Cuyamaca College in San Diego, Vice President of Academic Affairs at Copper Mountain College, Dean of Math, Science and Engineering at Evergreen Valley College, and Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences at the Community College of Denver.
With a bachelor’s and master’s degree in genetics, Zhou began his teaching career at Fudan University in Shangai, China before embarking on his Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin. With a Ph.D. in educational administration in hand, Zhou came to the California Community Colleges in 2007, where he has focused on creating innovative instructional programs and student learning outcomes. He has extensive accreditation experience, including serving as Accreditation Liaison Officer at Cuyamaca College and as an ACCJC visiting team member.
Zhou has authored and presented numerous papers focusing on student success and pedagogy. A firm believer of participatory decision-making, his management approach is to “listen first.”
Zhou replaces Dr. Cheryl Marshall, who was named Chancellor of the North Orange County Community College District after serving seven years at Crafton Hills College.
